What is mold?

Mold is a microscopic life form found in all parts of the world. It is part of the natural decay process of organic material. There are many different diverse species of mold all but have seen common characteristics for survival.

  • Mold requires an organic food source such as cellulose, found in drywall.
  • Mold requires oxygen. 
  • Mold requires constant supply water. To prevent mold, the structure must be kept dry.
  • Mold is spread by tiny particles called spores. (A spore an be compared to a seed)
